We help people become Italian citizens.

Where you belong and enjoy inalienable rights matters. Full Italian citizenship is a gift that bonds you forever to this amazing country and it’s people in the most profound way possible.

While the privilege of being given entry into the Italian populace is an amazing opportunity, it is intangible. There are also many remarkable practical benefits to Italian citizenship.

As a citizen, it is easier to buy real estate in Italy. Without Visa requirements, Italy and all the European Union nations become a realistic retirement option. Working and traveling throughout the E.U. will be your right. Purchasing healthcare coverage and paying for tuition at universities in the E.U. will be much cheaper. Voting in both local and national elections is possible, as is running for public office. Italy’s passport is the fourth most powerful in the world for the year 2023, according to CNN Travel.

Not only will the world open up to you in these amazing ways, but all the benefits of Italian citizenship pass automatically to your children and your direct descendants.

Why this is fantastic

How to Begin

This entire process is about gathering clues that will ultimately tell your family’s story. The best way to get started is to fill out a Family History as well as you can. Answering these questions will give us an idea if you’re eligible to apply for citizenship, plus show us what areas of your family history need to be investigated further. As soon as you have completed a Family History, email it to us and we will guide you through the concrete steps you can take toward applying for citizenship. Who We Are

Already Italian is a family business that we created so others might enjoy Italian citizenship as much as we do. My name is Jonathan Rea, and I run Already Italian with the help of my wife Molly, as well as the support of many family members and friends. I’m an attorney licensed to practice law in the state of Michigan, which allows me to represent our clients in gathering documents and interacting with the Italian government. My path to citizenship began in 2016, when I started researching my family’s history in Sicily, Lazio, and the U.S. By 2018 I had gained Italian citizenship through the Italian Consulate in Detroit, as did my three children. Since then, we’ve been using the lessons we learned during our own application experience to help our friends and family gain Italian citizenship too. We’ve worked with Italian consulate locations in Chicago, New York, and Miami, and establishing relationships with those consulates has proved invaluable. We will use those relationships and our knowledge of the citizenship process to help ensure that your application is successful.

Pricing

We are not a high volume business, and we will stay that way so that we can give your citizenship application the attention it deserves. We will do whatever is necessary to have your application approved, including:

  • Gathering all vital records you’ll need to present at the time of your application (birth, marriage, death, divorce, etc.);

  • Securing an Apostille on all these vital records;

  • Translating these records into Italian;

  • Contacting U.S. federal agencies to confirm your Italian-born ancestor’s American citizenship status;

  • Completing all the forms you’ll need to apply for citizenship;

  • Securing your registration in the appropriate A.I.R.E. (Anagrafe degli Italiani Residenti all’Estero);

  • Navigating the intricacies of each Italian Consulate (of which there are 10).

For our services, we charge a flat fee of $7,500.00, plus $1,000.00 for any adult children applying at the same time as you. If you wish to speak with us about financing or payment plans, we are happy to create a personalized payment process for you.

Eligibility

  • Italian law allows foreign-born individuals to gain citizenship “Jure Sanguinis”, which translates as “by right of blood” in Latin. If you can collect vital records proving that you have an Italian-born ancestor, you may be be eligible to apply. Think of this process as blazing a trail, in which you use birth and marriage records to prove that you are directly related to someone who was born in Italy.

    There are, however, two situations in which you would not qualify for citizenship Jure Sanguinis. First, you are not eligible if your Italian-born ancestor became a U.S. citizen, or otherwise gave up their Italian citizenship, before their children were born. Second, you may not be eligible if one of your ancestors was female. Assessing your eligibility in this situation likely requires some investigation into your family history, and if you are in this position, we can help you determine if you can apply before further action needs to be taken.

  • Spouses of Italian citizens are also eligible to apply for Italian citizenship. The main requirements for spouses are that you have been married for a certain amount of time (two years if you live in Italy and three years if you live outside of Italy) and that you pass an Italian language proficiency test. Reach out to us and we can provide more details on the process.
